Temporary closure of Pandoer Street in Bellville

12 February 2024

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise motorists and pedestrians on the temporary closure of Pandoer Street, between Jip de Jager Drive and Kommandeur Street, in Welgemoed in Bellville. The road closure starts on Friday, 16 February 2024 until Saturday, 20 July 2024.

This road closure forms part of the current upgrade of Jip de Jager Drive into a dual carriageway and the City's Congestion Management Strategy.

Alternative routes to access Jip de Jager Drive are via Dragoon Avenue, Jorgensens Avenue and Van Riebeeckshof Road or Cameronians Avenue, Wylant Street, Chavonne Street, Murray Street and Jameson Road between Jip de Jager Drive and Cameronians Avenue.

'Thank you for your patience during this upgrade of Jip de Jager Drive. It has been a long time coming and we also look forward to seeing traffic congestion relief once the work is done. In the meantime, motorists are advised to adhere to road closure and detour signage. It would be best to use alternative routes wherever possible as we anticipate large traffic volumes during the morning and afternoon peak hours in this area,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
